It’s been a while since a new image was posted here.
Not from want of trying.
Too much time on the road, three projects that have taken up a lot of time, have produced only a small number of images and are not finished yet are the reasons.
However there have been some small changes to the Sentimental Bloke website.
I have finally made an effort to update the gallery section with image, that while familiar to some, have been buried in the day to day posts.
I have also had several really worthwhile workshops in the last couple of months.
Based on those events, I have made changes to how workshops can be conducted in the future, giving more options for those who want to improve their photographic skills.
It has been really rewarding hearing how students, who have been to my workshops, have been reporting back about improvements in their work. Maybe one of the options is worth considering.
You can access both the Gallery and the Workshops sections on the top line of the Sentimental Bloke home page.

Running Water https://petermacdonaldphoto.com.au/2014/08/running-water-3/ Tue, 26 Aug 2014 08:30:27 +0000 http://thesentimentalbloke.com/?p=5267 Oratunga Ridge

I’d never taken the trouble to explore this area before. It’s between the Glass Gorge Road and the Parachilna Gorge in the central Flinders Ranges.

Rugged country and certainly some grand views of the Heysen Range in the background…….a typical Flinders Ranges scene.

However it was the little glimpse of water that caught the eye. Even up so high on a sharp ridge , the distinct sound of running water was coming from the valley.

It was this running water which would lead to finding a most beautiful stretch of creek bed that would take quite a few days to explore and photograph….The Oratunga.

For just a few moments the view of the Heysen Range from Moolooloo Station near Blinman in the Flinders Ranges is a sight to behold. But just as quickly as night descends, its gone.

A Range of Diversity https://petermacdonaldphoto.com.au/2013/01/a-range-of-diversity/ Mon, 14 Jan 2013 00:23:04 +0000 http://thesentimentalbloke.com/?p=3727

Looking through images that I have taken in recent times there there’s more than a few of the Heysen Range.

But putting them all together showed just how diverse the country is that makes up this section of the greater FlInders Ranges.

There’s already a few listed under ‘Heysen Range” in the Category section in the right hand column.

This is the northern end of the Heysen Range On Moorillah Station around Mt Samuel.

Smoke Haze https://petermacdonaldphoto.com.au/2012/11/smoke-haze/ Thu, 15 Nov 2012 08:14:16 +0000 http://thesentimentalbloke.com/?p=3573

It took a while to sink in that the unusually light blue hue to the sky and the ranges was in fact caused by the recent bushfires near Port Lincoln, about 500 kilometres away.

The haze created a rare change to the rich reds, purples and browns of the ranges and the deep, pollution-free blue of the sky.

It is pity the effect had to be come from the mayhem at the fire scene.
