Day after day of overcast skies. Each year I say I’m not cut out for winter, the cold, the winds that seem to go right through you.

Still, every now and then there’s an opportunity that comes for a fleeting few minutes.

There’s a third photo from the series over in the ‘Overflow’ section which can be accessed at the top of the page.

Dust Storm – The Aftermath https://petermacdonaldphoto.com.au/2011/08/the-aftermath/ Mon, 08 Aug 2011 12:19:26 +0000 http://thesentimentalbloke.com/?p=1030

After the passing of a dust storm there follows a period of eerie gloom which can go on for quite a while.

It produced this this case, interest and quite artistic effects, almost like pencil sketches.

This old bore and tank is on Wooltana cattle station in South Australia’s far north.

Disused bore and windmill, Gammon Ranges near Umberatana Station, northern Flinders Ranges.

I really like shooting these sort of scenes. They are so peaceful. About zero degrees as the first rays of the sun lit up the area. Definitely beanie and gloves but for change, a cloudless sky.
