<\/a><\/p>\nMartin’s Hall was once an eating house in the town of Beltana (Google Maps – Beltana SA) on the edge of the desert over 500 kilometres north of Adelaide.<\/p>\n
It became the first pub in a town that grew out of salt-bush country in 1873.<\/p>\n
At one stage there were 70 residences and the town provided services as diverse as a hospital, a saddler, blacksmith, butcher, and baker.<\/p>\n
Now there’s less than a handful of people there but it somehow manages to keep just above the status of ghost town.<\/p>\n
The Sentimental Bloke’s photographic exploits started as a resident of Beltana for a couple of years and there’s plenty of inspiration here for anyone with an interest in the outback.<\/p>\n
