I really stuffed up on this shot. It was such a joy to find and shoot this sea of wildflowers in bloom that in all the excitement I forgot to work out what they are.
It was spectacular and widespread. I was so intent on trying to get a shot that showed as many flowers as possible – doing it in between little gusts of wind that blew all the blooms around – and have everything in sharp focus that a small detail, like what the hell are they, seemed to pass me by.
The sad thing is that with the changing weather patterns and the on-going dry conditions, finding fields of wildflowers like this is probably going to be a bit hard in the future.
