It took a while to sink in that the unusually light blue hue to the sky and the ranges was in fact caused by the recent bushfires near Port Lincoln, about 500 kilometres away.

The haze created a rare change to the rich reds, purples and browns of the ranges and the deep, pollution-free blue of the sky.

It is pity the effect had to be come from the mayhem at the fire scene.
