I found this photo after a request for an image depicting the the Ridgetop Track at Arkaroola in the northern Flinders Ranges.

I wanted something that wasn’t just the usual shot of a Ridgetop tour vehicle going up Sillers lookout and I came across this,.

The Ridgetop tour has been running for over 40 years and many who follow the Sentimental Bloke will probably have been along this spectacular journey.

For those who haven’t, it’s almost a “bucket list” thing to do.

This photograph was taken in harsher times, in fact five years ago and I know there’s been an enormous burst of regrowth since the breaking of the drought.

I will be back here next week for a workshop and to shoot some new material.

brings back fond memories of my mob doing Sillers in 12 degrees, pouring rain on and off and freezing wind. The colours of each mountain were so different and beautiful and the growth a myriad of green. Like to return and see it in warm sunlight sometime. ps I look at your emails every day, the best photos in Aust.

Flinders Ranges, is this the best scenery in Australia?
It is the best I had seen so far.
My favourite parts are the Aroona Valley, Moralana Drive and Bunyeroo Valley.
Love the Wilpena Pound and the Elder Range.
What’s your favourite area of the ranges?

2 trips to Arkaroola just isn’t enough. Love your work Peter. I can’t imagine allowing anyone to mine this beautiful area.

Great shot… This place has just gone on to my bucket list – this looks majestic.

Friends of ours own property in Melrose and they know some of the people that own property around Mt Remarkable – so we’ve spent a lot of time 4WD’ing around there and the Southern Flinders Ranges. But the North looks amazing.

Hi Mark. I can really recommend a trip to Arkaroola and the northern Flinders Ranges. The trip up through the ranges from the south is a very beautiful and interesting journey. It just gets better and better as you head north.
I hope you can make the trip.
      Best
